Cupping Therapy
Originating from ancient Egyptian and Chinese cultures, cupping involves placing a glass jar on the skin to create a vacuum, suctioning out the air. Unlike traditional massage where pressure is often applied to the skin, cupping uses pressure to pull the skin, tissue, and muscles upward. Although the technique has evolved over time, its philosophy remains the same. It is believed that some health problems such as chronic muscle pain, arthritis, headaches/migraines, and even allergies may be caused by poor blood and energy flow within the body. Cups are applied to these problem areas to help. When pressure is applied, the underlying tissue is raised or sucked up into the cup. Cupping increases circulation, relieves pain, removes heat, and pulls out toxins that are within your body’s tissue.
